What is Microneedling?
Microneedling, also known as Collagen Induction Therapy, is a minimally invasive skin rejuvenation procedure that helps minimize the signs of aging, improves the appearance of acne scars and rejuvenate aging skin.
Microneedling is a treatment involving multiple superficial puncturing wounds which release growth factors that stimulate fibroblasts creating new collagen and elastin.
Benefits include a reduction in the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, improved skin tone and texture and softer, younger-looking skin with fewer signs of ageing.
Issues that can be addressed by microneedling include:
Micro-needling can help improve the appearance of hyper-pigmentation as well as uneven skin tone, acne scars, traumatic scars and stretch marks.
Micro-needling is multiple needles that vertically pierce the skin to allow greater absorption of topically applied skin care products, increases collagen productions and elastin growth, and visibly improves skin tone. This promotes the body’s natural healing process of producing new skin cells to replace aged or damaged skin.
At UrSkin we carry out micro-needling with a high precision device named the Flawless Pen.
The Flawless Pen is inherently safer than other microneedling products, such as dermal rollers. It utilises sterile single-use surgical grade disposable cartridge tips.
Flawless Pen’s high-speed motor allows for a more efficient yet timely procedure. The rapid pen motion provides a more comfortable experience that patients describe as a mild sandpaper-like sensation.
Micro-needling areas treated at UrSkin:
Some patients only require a single treatment once a year to achieve optimal results. However, it is recommended for most patients to receive a series of 3-6 treatments spaced about 4 weeks apart. Treatment time is an hour appointment, with treatment taking around 30 mins.
Patients notice an immediate “glow” to their skin. Visible changes to the skin develop over the course of several weeks. Results can continue to improve up to 6 months after the treatment.
